Heritage Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards
Heritage College Scholarships
The following Heritage scholarships are awarded each year. The monetary amounts listed are the expected scholarship values for the upcoming school year. However, Heritage reserves the right to adjust these amounts as necessary.
Scholarship application forms are provided to all applicants upon the completion of their application to Heritage. Please note that an application deadline of July 31st applies to many scholarships. Details are available from the Registrar’s Office.

William Marshall College Leadership Entrance Scholarship
(Up to $600) – Awarded to full-time students entering a degree program who have met university entrance requirements and who demonstrate leadership experience and potential, as recommended by references.
Academic Entrance Scholarships
(Up to $600) – Awarded to a limited number of full-time students entering a degree program who have the highest average for their university entrance courses.
Matching Entrance Scholarships
(Up to $1400) – For students entering full-time in a degree program (i.e. have met university entrance requirements) and who are recommended by their home church. If the student’s home church sponsors for an amount up to $500 (non-partner church) or $700 (partner church), Heritage will match the amount.
Returning Student Scholarships
(Up to $600) – Awarded to returning college students who indicate an intent to enroll full-time (4 courses per semester) in the upcoming school year and have already completed at least five courses at Heritage. Scholarships are awarded based on the overall excellence of the application (i.e. grades, financial need, goals for ministry, and personal references).
Heritage Dean’s Entrance Scholarships
(Up to $4,500) – Awarded to a limited number of full-time students entering a degree program who have exhibited godly character and demonstrated outstanding effort and academic achievement through the completion of a program at Summit College, Word of Life Bible Institute, Kawartha Lakes Bible College or New Tribes Bible Institute.
Heritage College Bursaries
Heritage awards bursaries as funds are donated for student assistance. Applications are available at the Registrar’s Office. Bursaries are normally awarded in the second year of a degree program.
Seniors Bursary
Seniors are eligible for a 50% discount on the comprehensive fee. “Senior” is defined as age 55 or over. This applies only to courses taken for credit, and does not apply to distance learning courses. Other associated fees are as stated in the fee schedule. This is only applicable to courses taken in Cambridge.
Married Student Bursary
The spouse of a full-time student will receive a 50% discount on the comprehensive fee. “Full-time” refers to a student taking at least 3 courses (minimum 9 credit hours). The spouse eligible for the discount is considered to be the one taking the fewer credit hours.
The course(s) must be taken for credit. This is offered when both spouses are registered in the same semester or session.
Heritage College Awards
Heritage presents the following awards at the end of each academic year. Each award is accompanied by a gift or a cheque.
Certificate Program Academic Proficiency Award
Awarded to the graduating student who was enrolled full-time in the certificate program and had the highest AGPA for the current school year.
Pittaway Award for First Year Academic Proficiency
Awarded to the first year student who was enrolled full-time in a degree program and had the highest AGPA for the current school year.
Gem Award for Second Year Academic Proficiency
Awarded to the second year student who was enrolled full-time in a degree program and had the highest AGPA for the current school year.
W. Doug Morrison Award for Third Year Academic Proficiency
Awarded to the third year student who was enrolled full-time in a degree program and had the highest AGPA for the current school year.
Fourth Year Academic Proficiency Award
Awarded to the fourth year student who was enrolled full-time in a degree program and had the highest AGPA for the current school year.
Greek Award
Awarded to the graduating student who has done outstanding work in the area of Greek language studies.
Lehman Strauss Expository Preaching Award
Awarded to the student who has done outstanding work in the homiletics program.
Wilson Banks Music Award
Awarded to a student who plans on having a career in music ministry, and who has exhibited Godly character, and demonstrated outstanding effort and academic achievement in his or her music studies at Heritage.
Missions Award
Awarded to the graduating student who has excelled academically & practically in the area of missions.
Norman W. Pipe Evangelism Award
Awarded to a student who exhibits a contagious Christian lifestyle, passionately sharing the love of Christ & the message of the gospel through words and deeds to those they meet who have not yet expressed faith in Christ.
Honour Society Awards
Each year, several graduating students are nominated to two different honour societies, Pi Alpha Mu & Delta Epsilon Chi. These are sponsored by our accrediting association and the Association of Canadian Bible Colleges.
Pastoral Ministry Award
Awarded to the graduating student who has done outstanding practical work in the area of pastoral ministry.
Field Education Awards
Awarded to the top male and female students who have excelled in the field education program.
Gerry Benn Award for Christian Education
Awarded to the graduating student who has done outstanding work in the area of Christian Education.
Christian School Education Award
Awarded to the graduating student who has done outstanding work in the field of Christian School Education during his or her studies at Heritage.
Citizenship Awards
Awarded to the top non-graduating male and female students who have demonstrated godly character and have been extensively involved in student life at Heritage.
Elsie M. Lawson Awards
It is presented to the one outstanding male and one outstanding female student graduating from a degree program that demonstrates, in an outstanding way, a balance among academic achievement, ministry involvement, and Christian character .
